Best/Cheapest place to buy bucket seat foam?

I normally post in the 73-87 section but figured this was the best place for this question. I have a pair of buckets that i have had for quite a while that the foam is trashed on. Have been strongly considering redoing with new foam and covers. Looking for new foam online. The cheapest I have found is $172 per side. It also says it is the same from 1971-1975 .Does this sound about right? I have never needed to put new foam on seats. Would appreciate any input

Re: Best/Cheapest place to buy bucket seat foam?

Sounds about right. I installed new PUI foam on my buckets. There is another brand (can't remember the name) that is suppose to be better quality at a higher price point.

Foam can be repaired and rebuilt. Foam, spray glue electric fishing knife and 3m sanding pads can get it done but it takes a little skill to get the shape correct.

Re: Best/Cheapest place to buy bucket seat foam?

My new foam came from LMC but it had DashesDirect on the box....it fit very well and the wires were embedded into it to attach the hog rings....
I'll tell you..the new foam made a big difference....
but I also put in new seat springs...that made a huge difference in the firmness and comfort of the seats...
I used 9 gauge springs on the bottom and 11 gauge on the backs...

This is the bottom after I sandblasted and painted the frames and fitted the new springs

Re: Best/Cheapest place to buy bucket seat foam?

Thanks for all the info guys. I know the foam can be repaired but here in Phoenix especially the heat just destroys it and makes it crumble. Is it right that the foam is the same on all the lowbacks?

I know the 73-74 have the same shape as 72 foam wise. I think 75-77 the foam maybe different. Trevor

Re: Best/Cheapest place to buy bucket seat foam?

American made very nice quality seat foam. You get what you pay for, not the cheapest, but the best foam I've used.

Re: Best/Cheapest place to buy bucket seat foam?

Thanks for the information. That is what I was hoping to hear. I may try my hand at redoing a set. It has been a lot of years since I have recovered a seat.

Re: Best/Cheapest place to buy bucket seat foam?

I know my 68 c10 seat is a bench seat, but the foam i got came from gmc pauls and was american made. And it feels great, cause my 60 year old keester has lost the junk in the trunk padding, basically flat my wife says.
