Box Removal

Can someone tell me how to get the box bolts out with the nuts spinning? This is on my 2001 long box. What a crappy design. I assume GM welded the nuts in and now the welds have let go. I could just cut the bolts but then I couldn't reuse the nuts as they would be filled and still spining

Re: Box Removal

might have to use a hole saw and cut a hole in the floor above the nut and use a socket to hold them

Re: Box Removal

How many are spinning? If its only one or two just cut the heads off and leave those holes empty. There should be like 8 bolts holding it to the frame.

Cool Re: Box Removal

;You need to cut a window in the side of the u channel by the bolt to get ahold on the nut,you can install a j clip nut on though the hole to install the box
