Re: wiper motor help

If they want to move but dont I would suggest looking at the wiper transmission under the cowl to make sure it is not in a bind. Especially if it is doing the same thing with both motors. Just a thought.

You might also unhook the wiper transmission for the wiper motor and see if you can move it by hand.

Re: wiper motor help

I had the same problem with a new wiper motor. It was just not strong enough to push the wipers, I took it back and exchanged it for another one, and it has been working fine ever since.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm gonna check all the linkage and if that don't fix it I'll get a new one...this is a remanufactured one

Re: wiper motor help

I had an intermittent windshield wiper motor on my 75 and it turned out to be corrosion on the wiper fuse under the dash. I cleaned off the corrosion and lubed it with a little wd40 and no problems since.

Re: wiper motor help

Two ideas:

1) Buy only AC Delco motor from online OEM retailers - should not be that expensive.

2) Before you buy a new motor - check the connector at the motor. Wiggle it while assistant operates the wiper switch. I have a bad connector and was able to patch it back up with electrical tape, but I will get a new connector when my patch finally fails. Those connectors are somewhat fragile after 30+ years of use. If you have a bad connector you can get an OEM AC Delco connector from the same online OEM retailers. Check the online Delco pigtail catalog:

www.oewarehouse.com
www.oehq.com
www.rockauto.com
www.autopartstomorrow.com
www.gmpartsdirect.com

Some have free shipping and usually no sales tax (for now, anyway.)

I got a new motor already, but I see what your talking about with those connectors, I think that may be one of the issues...I work at orileys and got it pretty cheap, I did keep the old one as a back up
