Parting out - 1957 3600 3/4 ton truck

I have a near complete truck and everything in the drivetrain, frame and chassis must go to a new home. It has been sitting for 10 years so figure condition as is. Figure all these parts will fit 55-59 3/4 ton trucks

It has a 235 6 cylinder engine that is complete and has not been touched. It has a 3 speed trans with a granny first gear, not sure of the rear differential gearing. It has twin drive shafts. 8 lug wheels, drum brakes. steering box

Steering column and box all good, wheel all original with horn cap. Some dash parts avail please inquire.

Pictures of parts on request and will get stuff online as it comes apart.

Shipping for smaller parts will be USPS flat rate $6, $12, $15 boxes. other will be by size and weight to your zip.

Thank You

Re: Parting out - 1957 3600 3/4 ton truck

Hi Micheal no wont be cutting anything up. All the sheetmetal I will be using for my build. I have bed parts in another thread.

Everything on the frame and drive train is up for sale at this point. It has complete brake systems, steering system, frame is un-molested, wheels are 8 lug, need some cleaning up and some paint and could be nice. The tires are old and no good and come with the rims.... I have the original spare rim AND TIRE! from 57.

The engine and trans are available, radiator and water systems, all electrical wiring systems as I wont be using them.

Open to offers on all parts. + shipping.

Ask and ye shall receive....
The steering wheel is cracked in all the right places but it is all together and not separated anyplace. The cap is blastable or just some steel wool and leave the rough look.

Is the extra cab a deluxe or small back window? If it has big back window (deluxe), I'm interested.

Delux or Deluxe was the base model, Custom was the nicer cab with chrome trim and grille, either could have a big or small window.

So, to clarify this a little more, the term "Deluxe" was used to describe the model where you got stainless windshield mouldings, grille, and stainless around the door windows and back glass, and a fabric covered seat, Driver side armrest and chrome dash knobs - non-deluxe or base models as they were sometimes referred to, were minus all these items and had black plastic knobs and a vinyl seat cover. No "Custom" terminology was used before 1960. Panoramic rear glass was a separate option available on base or Deluxe models, and chrome bumpers were separate from the Deluxe feature set, so while very few were ordered this way, you could have a Deluxe model truck with chrome grille and white painted bumpers. Rear bumpers were not standard equipment at all, so all rear bumpers regardless of paint vs chrome were dealer added unless specifically ordered with them.

Re: Parting out - 1957 3600 3/4 ton truck

Deluxe was the base model no trim no chrome no frills, Custom had the chrome trim, bumpers dash knobs , nicer seat better floor mat and a few other items. The big window was an option in both deluxe and custom cabs. Some GM material does swap the term custom and deluxe but in the taskforce deluxe was the base model. Not to be confused with a deluxe heater which had the chrome dash controls also an option in both models.

Here is a partial listing,

http://www.thehollisterroadcompany.com/3104_6-5.html

The term custom was only in the chevy data book and not sold as a Custom like the C10 series
This info is straight out of the Salesmen Truck Data Book for 1959
Custom option
right door lock
bright metal windshield reveals
bright metal side window trim
chrome grille, hob caps, front bumper, rear bumper, fleetside had chrome trim,
driver side arm rest
sun visors left and right
cigarette lighter
chrome dash knobs
foam rubber seat with a much nicer covering

Well, now you have my wheels turning - I have copied and pasted this to the 55-59 guru's on another forum to see if they agree with you on the Deluxe vs non-deluxe subject - maybe you are right, but I thought I understood them to say that Deluxe was the bright metal trimmed cab and non-deluxe was the correct term for what I call "plain jane" ....I will post the response. These guys have forgot more about 55-59 trucks than I will ever know so they will know for sure
