What was this bracket for?
Passenger side frame right at the wheel well. Obviously cut off by the PO.

Re: What was this bracket for?
My tranny crossover is well back of that. The transmission is an automatic if that makes a difference.

Re: What was this bracket for?
I would think your truck wasnt an automatic trans originally. That bracket was the trans crossmember for a manual trans.

Re: What was this bracket for?
Three speed manual trans use that location, they mount up on the bell housing. Did truck originally come with 3spd?

Re: What was this bracket for?
Nope. It doesn't even have a Chevy VIN. The title has a VIN change from Tennessee.

Re: What was this bracket for?
Trust me most of the trucks out there today did not come with automatics.Think poor person to rich person back in the 60-69.If your truck came from the factory with a auto it was a business truck or some one had money. So just tell your self that 65% of the trucks out there where 3 on the tree and 4 speeds. There are more 3 speeds on the market and 4 speeds then auto's.
When i was out buying trucks back in 1989--2011.I had 3-4 rules that i went by First rule if it had massive cancer leave it,If it was a step side an 3 or 4 speed.Any massive mods Leave it.I bought all mine all 15 trucks and 13 car's all of them Chevy's.With not that much cancer or easy fixes. Now i bought a 1969 camaro with 396 auto on the floor AC full power red with black interior with horse shoe shifter but trunk and floor pan rusted out.Payed $600.00 back in 1993.I stripped the car an kept all the parts until 2006 sold them, parts to a guy that had a 1969 camaro SS that was stripped down for a drag car.Wanted to put it back to factory Payed me $9000.00 for all the parts. One part i did not want to sell him was the console.I needed one for my 1971 nova.So he said he had one with out gauges .That he throw into the deal so i sold it to him he gave me his. Now days most people are picking up the left overs that the true collectors don't want. They have been butcher so bad or modified. You can't tell if it was a truck at all |

Re: What was this bracket for?
You and I are from opposite schools. I am a resto-mod gearhead. Almost all the cars, trucks I have ever owned have been modified to some degree. The 280Z is full bore modified, only thing that is stock is the roof and the glass! This truck was modified when I got it and I have changed a lot since then. As far as automatics go I would prefer a stick but I have a really messed up right shoulder and shifting gear can get painful. I have no problem with purists, just not vision for my car. There is a reason they don't build them like they used to, LOL.
