who makes best reproduction body panels

I'm looking for some reproduction body panels for our 56 chevy truck. Front fenders in particular. I've bought other pieces from various suppliers, but they all sell the same off shore brand. All have required some rework, which I'd expect but some are not even close. I recently found out about Golden Leaf here in Canada, who is sells Dynacorn. Anyone used Dynacorn stuff? Happy with it?

Re: who makes best reproduction body panels

Your probably gonna find that they all come from the same place..they may have different names..and they all fit terrible..it seems like everyone that uses repop has the same fit issues..rule of thumb is oem body parts far exceed aftermarket in quality..try posting in the 47-59 section and you'll get more specific info..

Re: who makes best reproduction body panels

The panels I've bought (cab corners, front and rear door pillars, rockers, etc) all had the same manufacturer sticker - Keyparts.
Here's a pic of the truck sitting on the shortened 2005 chassis. Lots of rad support mods needs, but looks like there's a bunch of extra material on either side to narrow enough to fit.

Re: who makes best reproduction body panels

Sorry, never really answered the question about quality and fit. All needed rework, nothing major except the cab corners. Which needed the vertical line dollied over towards the center of the truck to line up with the rest of the cab. Material was a little lighter than original. All in all, not too bad. Just would like to know if anyone makes a true "replacement panel" that fits. The rework isn't tough, just time consuming. And like most of us, I don't get out in the shop as much as I'd like.

Re: who makes best reproduction body panels

I went on AMD,s website and was reading they say they are retooled and sheet metal is same gauge as original, and restoration quality. I would suspect forming older truck body panels might be a little more difficult ??. Thanks for the pics, would be interested to hear from somebody who has bought square body panels.

Re: who makes best reproduction body panels

I've bought and measured the thickness of Camaro, Chevelle, 72 truck and new metal. New metal is typically a bit thinner since its metric. People babble about original sheetmetal being 18. Don't believe it.

HF has a $10 digital calipers. You can figure it out.

Dynacorn, Goodmark, at least a lot of AMD, Triplus and so on are all the same. You may luck out and get a good part, or not. They don't make the parts. They put a sticker on and sell them.

Websites never lie, thankfully. AMD says some parts are retooled, not all--wonder where made? Same metric, cheasy metal.

My experience: you either get a piece that fits perfect, but dents if you look at it wrong, or you get a stout piece, that is shaped incorrectly. It is rare you will find OEM quality. Buy after market panels with low expectations, and you will not be too dissapointed.
