Traction Bars For Pickups

I am going to need some kinda traction aid for a 2wd pickup. being that trucks are spring over traction enhancing becomes more of a challenge than a spring under setup.
I came across this setup on the web & it looks well thought out from a street ride point of use. However it of course is configured for a spring under setup. If this photo was flipped spring over I can't see anything that would stop it from working. In the photo as the axle tube rotates CCW under acceleration the bar is pushed forward which rotates the bracketry CCW imparting pressure to the top of the spring w/ the roller.
Reversed it should still do the same thing as the bar would be PULLED to the rear & push roller to the spring. However I'm sure the spring hangers are gonna have something to say about using this setup as drawn...
Anybody here have any kinda traction aids on their trucks using a spring over configuration?
thanks

Re: Traction Bars For Pickups

I have this style on my 82 . There is a kit if you do a flip . http://www.calvertracing.com/store/c...kit-p-184.html which I do not have . I have the reg set .

Also this is going to take care of the wheel hop if you are experiencing it . But it will not take care of tire spin for the lack of a good traction tire . It is some better and will help some but don't expect the street tires will plant on the road .

I thought the text of my post made it clear that spring under or "Flip KIt" bars wouldn't work.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though...

I called them late today & tomorrow they will send me a line drawing of what they think I need in a spring over configuration.
I only got to look at this at lunch time today & before I got to the calvert racing site the phone co dug up our cable out front- along with our water line so toilet wouldn't work either...
Are any yall using these & if so how do you like them?
Thanks!

Re: Traction Bars For Pickups

I have them on my 82. On drag radials it does 1.5-1.6 60fts. I can get it to leave on the street pretty decent too. Haven't run regular street tires on it tho.

Re: Traction Bars For Pickups

Cal-tracs have an excellent reputation all across the country. If you go to any drag strip on any weekend, almost any leaf sprung rig that hooks hard will be runnin Cal-tracs. They are worth every penny.
