Axle swap?

Gentlemen, I picked up a '68 C60 from a local salvage yard. Its a 366, 5 and 2 truck. I got it because it has 11.25 inch 10 hole axles and I'm thinking of swapping them over to my '72 so I can run 22.5s. I know i will have to address the obvious master cylinder differences because this axle has dual front wheel cylinders but other than that does any one know of any issues I may encounter? Thanks.

What is your 72? I took a quick look at your posts and did not see it. Also do you mean the bolt circle on the 68 is 11.25 inch? I believe my 68 with 8.75 bolt circle has dual wheel cylinders in front, I know it does in the rear.

Here is the '72 and I will snag a pic of the '68 tonight. completely different bolt patterns.

I double checked my 68 and sure enough the fronts are single wheel cylinders with dual on the back. I was not aware that they did trucks as old as 68 with the larger bolt circle on he wheels, it is possible that those axles were swapped in from a newer truck but just as possible as some option that I've never seen, either way that is a great find. I spent around 1600 for a set of 22.5 wheels that will fit the smaller bolt circle.

Back to your question, the only thing besides the brakes that I can think of would be possibly a different size u joint and maybe a slightly different length drive shaft. Based on my experience between the 68 and 89 trucks just about everything is a bolt in swap.

Your 72 is a good looking truck, what are your plans for it?

I bought the '72 at a auction last fall because I had just made a deal to do a dozer/tractor job that required a dump truck and while my '56 is a good truck I couldn't risk it going down in the middle of the job. Well she never failed and I ended up never using the '72 so I don't know what I'm going to do with it now.

You're set, it's a '68, as 1967 & 1968 were the only years with that particular "Bowtie over 40/50/60" emblem above the door hinge area, with the '68 having front fender marker lenses, while '67's are smooth. Also the V.I.N. shows the number "8" in front of your manufacturing plant letter of "S" (not sure which plant that is/was?). Gonna' be a cool truck!

Hello everyone! I am brand new to this forum, and I will post my ride soon. But, this thread caught my attention.

Am I reading this correctly? If the truck has a 11.25 bolt circle diameter and 10 lug that new 22.5 rims will be readily available allowing a tubeless tire?

Sorry for my ignorance, but is it generally only C60's that have the 11.25 bolt circle diameter? No issues with the center hole size being too small or big to fit modern rims?

I would assume that it is a 60 only option but is seams like back in the day you could order any configuration you wanted. Expladv posted a sweet dump truck a day or so ago that had the same hubs but you don't see them to often. I haven't bolted a rim on yet but will be soon.
