Re: Short step toneau cover pics, please?

This is something I also want to know about. I've been through a lot of picshere and there and haven't seen many short steps, let alone with bed covers. Seems most ppl have the fleetside but I wouldn't trade by shorty stepside for one, I love the look of mine. Is gaylord a real company, LOL, guess ill google it.

Yes Gaylord's a Real Company. We sell their products. They are not inexpensive. They will run close to $1000.00 here is a pic we robbed off their website. We don't have one.

Re: Short step toneau cover pics, please?

There's not alot of options for tonneau covers for the stepsides. I searched for a long time before finally deciding not to get anything. The biggest problem I had with most of them was the requirement to drill holes in the bedsides somewhere. Also, some of the fiberglass lids just didn't look good to me.

I started to make something that looked like a tonneau cover but really wasn't. It was actually a table made of 2x4's and luan plywood. I never really finished it and eventually took it apart. I was gonna stretch and glue a piece of vinyl over the top and ends to look like a cover. I still would've been able to put stuff under it and it would've provided some protection against the elements. It was also alot cheaper to build than most covers cost.

Re: Short step toneau cover pics, please?

Are 67-72 short step beds the same demision as 83-87 short step bed? If so, I'll probably go with this:

http://www.brandnewauto.com/TONNEAU-...-p5180266.html

I think I'll have to drill the side rails to the top of the bedsides.

Anyone done this?

Thanks,

Re: Short step toneau cover pics, please?

Yea, I know it's a longbed but I went to a local upholstery shop and paid $225 for the whole thing installed. I guess that means your shortbed would be a little cheaper. This is a tonneau cover which is what you asked about. Those hard covers the other guys are talking about are bed covers and cost much more.

Re: Short step toneau cover pics, please?

I had a local shop do my last one. Guess I will do that again. The covers are WAY too much money when compared to canvas.
Thanks for posting the pics!
