Bolt in C notch template?

Ive been putzing around with my panel chassis and was going to put my CPP C notches in and couldn't find the template. Did they even come with one, or was it just a fit the best you can deal?

If it does have a template does anyone have one in a PDF or something they could email or mail me. Id cover any postage costs.

Thanks, Mark

Re: Bolt in C notch template?

I would just make a template off of your notch.
That's what I always do.
I use thick poster board or thin gasket material.

Re: Bolt in C notch template?

Same here.

Bottomed the rear axle against the frame & marked the axle centerline on the frame. I made a posterboard template of the notch area using the CPP notch as the guide. I put the center of the template @ the centerline marked on the frame & scribed the area to be cut. I drilled holes @ the corners & cut from the bottom of the frame rail up to the drilled holes & then cut the area between the drilled holes. Smooth everything so there are no sharp edges!

I still recommend using the method described to center the axle. If I would have followed the published directions included w/mine, I would have been off center @ ride height.

Re: Bolt in C notch template?

This isn't going to be a bagged ride. Its a panel so its pretty heavy in the back, and will have a 6 inch drop in the rear. Figured the C notch would be good insurance from bottoming.

Re: Bolt in C notch template?

I am about to just start my C notch, I have a 69 c10. I have the bed off and was about to start removing rivets. It looks to me like i will have to move the panhard bar mount on the frame as the c notch (cpp) hits it when lined up wit the center of my axel. anyone else have this issue?? seems like there is about 1/2" interference.

Re: Bolt in C notch template?

I've installed the CPP notch & there wasn't any clearance issues @ the Panhard bar.

Thanks, I had a look at the issue. I think my panhard mount is different than the one in the photo's. Mine has 2 rivets on either side and one farther up on the frame. The one in the photo's has the rivets inside the walls of the mount. I'll post pics today with what i mean.

The first two are pictures I have found in installation instructions (pic 1 board member pic 2 from cpp), the last 3 are pictures of my mount and location.

Re: Bolt in C notch template?

Thanks for the pics. Does anyone ever run a weld bead around them (leaving the bolts in), or does that mess with the way the bolts hold them in?

My panhard mount is the same (68 C-20) and I plan to trim the notch around the panhard mount. How'd you end up installing yours?
