All I found was the original order sheet dated 09-07-67. My '68 originally had a 292 cu in L6 engine with a 3 speed, a "panoramic" rear window, LH and RH short arm mirrors, HD front and rear springs, a full foam seat, amp-oil-temp gauges, light yellow paint with fawn vinyl trim. It was built in Fremont, CA and sold through Wilen-Cornforth Motors in Puyallup, WA.

Is that worth $2300?

Your truck has traveled 40 miles in 35 years. Lets start a new thread about who's truck has taveled the least in its lifetime from dealer to its current home. Mine started in La Brea CA and is in port orchard WA. Whats that ? about 1100 miles ?

Yeah, but it was a plumbing truck. It covered that 40 mile trip a lot of times to get to 70,000 miles!

Thinking back a couple of generations, recall selling my 55 chev 2dr htop with a .05 bag of Mexican Pete stuck under the carpet where the heater vents in the center. Must have smelled just great with the heater on~~~. It was the good stuff, with the seeds in it that went POP as you puffed. AND this was way before it was popular---ahhh---the memories of youth!!
awww man, I wish I found some of that in my truck (but then again, maybe not because it would probably be decomposing today... yuck! I pity the foo' who take a hoot of old-ass weed!)

jeez and all i found was a throwing knife and a hustler from 1974
ARE YOU SERIOUS? and you're complaining? I found a condom wrapper and lots of rust. If I found a 1974 Hustler and a throwing knife I'd have two new prized possessions!

A friemd of mine bought a 1970 lincoln mark whatever from the original owner when I was in high school. The original owner was an old black Baptist preacher. Under the drivers seat he found a loaded .45 and about an ounce of weed . I'm still coughing 20 years later!

what a moral dilema, legally if they are good the items in the car is yours.
put it this way if i find a wallet on the ground,i will break my butt to get it back to the owner intact with all the money in it.

now if i find a bag with money in it with no owner information i will keep it. reason is ,if you call the police it will sit in the property room untill if no one claims it you get a percentage back, not the whole amount.

i think the travlers checks are either good or bad,the original owner to the checks would be too hard to track down, but if ya managed to find them, and they may be seniors by now, just think of the good deed ya would do for them returning it to them.

who knows maybe they are broke living on a fixed income.

just my .02

I hate to rain on your parade but that's the way travelers checks work. When you buy them you are supposed to sign them once immediately. When you are ready to spend them you sign them again. The person who accepts them is supposed to verify the signatures and they usually ask for ID too.
I suspect someone bought them for a vacation or something, a common occurance before plastic money became so popular, and didn't use them all. They probably stashed them under the floor of the struck for security and then forgot or maybe died.
I don't know the legal ramifications with Amex but I suspect they are worthless. Sure won't hurt to ask, though.

I work at a bank too...doesn't matter if the checks are reported lost/stolen or not...it will come back to haunt you!

If they are reported lost and you cash them...the TC company will go after you and get the money back...guaranteed (seen it happen).

If they are not reported lost and you cash them then you are committing a federal forgery crime. Either the bank will see the sigs don't match, or they will ask for ID, or the TC company will see the older dates and this will raise a red flag...not to mention they will then see the sigs don't match as well. Not only that, but if you have your sis "help" you do this and you get busted...so does she!

I say simply turn them in...maybe there will be a reward or something...besides, you will feel better about it.

Well as I thought, they are no good to me. I had to check. If I can't find the owners they will be just an addition to my collection

I think that our trucks (and any other old vehicle) can be like a time capsule. In one of my cab corners I found a old jar of Bar's Leaks, a can of Prestone antifreeze, and a container of touchup paint. Under the hood, in the little cavity behind the drivers side headlights, I found a couple pieces of wood (one big one) a lead pipe and a stick of After-Bite. And little things keep popping out of nowhere. Today I found a piece of wire that has a ring on one end and is about a foot long, it was behind the gas tank I think. I found a little metal tag in the seat that has a few #'s and the date 03-03-69, and has a round hole in it. Also an old plastic clip from a bank in the town of New Prague, Minnesota is attached to the psgr visor. A little sticky tear-away calendar from 1982 was on the glovebox, with May showing, when I bought the truck...but I threw it away. And a 1963 silver dime in the ash tray. Thats all so far...phew.
