Sounds like a pretty good deal to me (especially since I get to replace my backing plates soon, oh joy...I'd be tempted to just swap rears if I found a deal like that, heh). How's the diff itself?

sounds like a good deal. pull the cover and make sure there is no pitting on the gears. I looked at a one-wheel-wonder at the local salvage yard and they wanted $250 for it. I passed on that "great" deal. I wouldn't have passed on a posi for $200.

havnt looked at it,but it really isnt a salvage but a truck parts place that deals in stuff from 29 up to the 50's. the guy who owns the shop said the rear belongs toanother guy who just junked the truck 6 months ago after a wreck. well i havnt looked at it yet bu the guy said there wasnt anything wrong with it,he just wants to get it out of his way. i will look at it tomarrow as i have to go to work now. maybe i will sneek by there this evneing while at work and check it out.

i just hope it isnt a 373 as i have 373 gears in it now,did gm put 308 posi in these trucks?

5 lug rear ends tend to be geared higher (numerically lower) than the 6 lug ones I've seen. I believe the 6 cylinder trucks were geared lower than V8 trucks usually also. Just some personal observations on my part.

i tell you some people dodnt know their heads from thier butts.

i went to get that rearend today and found it was a gm 12bolt car rear, with some kinda elctric connecter on it. it was a posi but i have no use for it.

well i guess the search continues for a rear end for my truck

i heard that 73 and up axles will interchange into my 70 model housing,so i might have to get just the axles.
