If I use a flip kit?
If I use a flip kit, will I have to use different shocks to compensate for the lowered stance? How many inches lower does the flip kit give you? Also, same for the front. Also, would I have to use different shocks in the front with a 2" drop?

Re: If I use a flip kit?
Rear flip kit will get you about 5-6 in. lower in the rear. If you get a good kit, it will have shock extenders and you will be able to use factory shocks.
on the front, I need help with that one as well. |

Re: If I use a flip kit?
If you use 2 in spindles to lower the front the shock location will not change. The spindle location is higher on the steering knuckle.

Re: If I use a flip kit?
Would you have to use a C notch for this job? Also, would shackles alone lower the rear without using the flip kit? If so, by how much?

Re: If I use a flip kit?
70GMCer i would go that route just to be on the safe side...( i just installed mine but went with out one for 8 years ) if you do any hualing or what not...on the rear of my 72 i did a flip kit and i just run Stock 72 front shocks... on the rear.. they are a little shorter and i think a little beefier... (when it was not torn down) it rode fine and i never had any problems ...although i never used my truck as a truck....ie i never hauled anything really heavy......

Re: If I use a flip kit?
Hey Steve, I was just looking at some blingin' chrome rims on ebay for your truck after we slam that mutha down. Seriously, if you only plan to drop the front 2" and the rear 4", stock shocks should be fine. I love my new KYB's on the front and plan to use them on the rear also

Re: If I use a flip kit?
You are right, the largest drop I have seen for a shackle is 2". The problem with the longer shackles is that anything more than 2" will hit the bottom of the bed. In fact, if you have a wood bed the 2" shackles will probably not even fit. I know I couldn't fit them on my truck with the wood bed.

Re: If I use a flip kit?
There is a kit for later leaf rear trucks that provides spring to frame mounts that locate the leafs higher up from the ground.I know a guy just got the kit from LMC for an`84.I`d want to notch the frame for a "flip" job.
