Primer catalyst gelled on me

So I was all ready to paint last night. got the epoxy primer on. waited the hour or so before putting on the high build. went out there about 8:10 to mix the paint and the catalyst had gelled. so I run to the auto store, closed at 8:00. so the recoat window is 24 hours. guess what I am doing at lunch today. the bad thing is it cost $30 for a half gallon worth of catalyst. I have had this for a while, but inside the house. should this happen? and how long should it last. Just deal with it. the paint is good.

Re: Primer catalyst gelled on me

That happens to me a lot with all types of hardeners. (clear mainly) Some say it's moisture, others tell me it's extreme temperature changes, but I haven't figured it out yet. Some will last forever out in my shop, some won't last a month.

Re: Primer catalyst gelled on me

Keep all paints and bondo in the house. as for picks. I recently lost all my truck info in my computer so it has been in the recovery stage for a few days will try to get some up this weekend
