'56 GMC 1 ton dually flatbed project.

I thought i would share my new project.

It's a 1956 GMC 1 ton dually flatbed with a Chevy straight 6. It has a whopping 37k miles. On the body, not sure on the engine.

Well, I'm kind of torn on the plans.

Originally, I wanted to turn it into a 4x4 Dually tow rig. I even picked up this 80k mile, but extremely rusty 1978 Chevy K30 Dually as a parts donor. It even runs really well.

The problem is, I'm kinda digging the '56 in its current state. I'm tempted to just get it running, fix the brakes, and drive it as-is.

If the straight-6 turns out to be bad, then maybe a 12 valve cummins or LS swap.

There definitely is a bunch of cool stuff left in Idaho, but this one came out of Provo, Utah. I need to update my location.

So, for now, I need to get the GMC running and stopping so I can get it out of my work's parking lot.

Any recommendations on where to get the ignition and door lock sets?

I also need to figure out why the brake pedal goes straight to the floor and sticks there.

That error message means that your pictures are too large. You'll have to resize them.

check the brake pedal and see if you have a return spring hooked up - it might be broken or not there at all or just like some of us (me included ) just a bit worn out

So how's that project going I came across this on accident but interested, we had the same truck on the ranch 70s-80s. Same color too. That sure gains some nice speed in first gear right, know what I mean

71 Custom Deluxe, SWB, 2WD, 402, A/C. I developed an assm. guide "kit" for restoring it from ground up. LS is a potential fire hazard, I just couldn't put one in a classic work of art.
