Let there be manual overdrive

Would a saginaw 3 speed overdrive tranny be a good choice for a daily driver - hotrod wannabe? Something that rare seems like it might be hard to find parts for. Is the O/D non-syncronized and engaged by a solenoid? Would it fit in place of a sm465 with the shifter being in the same place?

Also looking at the new process a833, but shift linkage may pose a delay in setting it up if I go this route.

Considering cost, looks like either one will run about the same, once you factor in the shifter/linkage for the a833, but I don't know that much about the saginaw.
