2 Piece Driveshaft question for a bagged 71 Suburban

Not having any luck over in the suspension area so I'll ask it here.

First of all, I have a 4L60E transmission and my front shaft has already been cut and the carrier bearing has been installed. My question is what is the best option for the rear, a slip yoke? What's the best way to measure so I can give them the correct measurements at the driveshaft shop. Is it a measurement of all the way aired out and then at max height?

The front shaft is original, it is just shortened at the yoke end.

Also, are there any parts (slip joints) from other vehicles I can use to lessen the cost from having an entire new one made?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I think you would have to have a slip yoke at the front of the rear shaft like the original shafts do. Don't take this as gospel but I read somewhere that to figure drive shaft length slide the shaft all the way in, then pull it out 1/2" and mark your length. You might want to PM bradman_72 and ask him, he works in a driveline shop.

Why not just get a one piece made if there cutting the front half already? You have to measure from flange to flange and if you measure on the bottom of one measure on the bottom of the other one.if that makes sense.

I use a slider shaft from a company called Inland Empire Driveline in california.
It allows the shaft to change length when you lower the truck. I used to eat up u joints and now I dont have any trouble.

I ended up getting the rear shaft with slip that CPP makes. I got it from Justin at Scott's Hot Rods. When I mocked it all up it worked just fine.

I am going to have to look into this when I put the Gear Vendors OD in the 1968 Suburban. I wonder if I can use the same 2 piece shaft that is in my 67 C 20 It has a slip yoke at the trailing arm cross member.
