Question on 1951 Chevrolet 3600

We picked up a 1951 3600 and have some questions on it. It has original paint on the majority but has a chrome grill and chrome around the windows. I thought a chrome grill was only original on the deluxe which had the five windows? I know a lot can get changed over the years but the owner thought it was original. I will have more photos tomorrow. Sorry.

Re: Question on 1951 Chevrolet 3600

Plenty of 47 to 51 trucks had chrome grills in them when new. No 52 or 53 left the factory with a chrome grill due to the Korean War. At least that is what is stated in several year to year AD truck change pages.

Right after WWII people were inclined to want more chrome in their new cars and trucks and dealers often added more stuff on to increase the sale price and profit margin. That was on all vehicles and right after the war you signed up at a dealership for a new car or truck and took a number and when the load with your vehicle came in you took the one they had marked as yours. My grandparents bought both a 48 Fleetline and a 48 1 ton dual rear wheel cab and chassis that my grandfather and uncle built a bed and cattle and grain racks on.
