Re: Raptor herculined on bed wood?

I'd want to find out how well it adhered to wood and stayed on wood before using it.

Re: Raptor herculined on bed wood?

I noticed that the original factory undercoating adhered to the metal much better than the wood, which has some peeling areas. But heck, it's 60 years old!

I have not had good luck spraying raptor on wood. if that is the look that you are going for maybe just use the trex type synthetic decking instead. HD has it in a deep grey blue color. looks nice. 20 buck a board

Re: Raptor herculined on bed wood?

After the 3rd bed in 5 decades i needed one to out last me in a corrosive salt air climate. Gave it some thought but went with spraying entire bed walls, tailgate and top rails with raptor and replacing bed wood with synthetic decking and stainless bed strips. all hardware was replaced with SS.

Re: Raptor herculined on bed wood?

I used the stuff from lowes. it is about 12x3/4" and used for fascia or trim (not deck top). I only needed to mill one edge on two boards to fit under the bed angles that are welded in on each side. Just butted up the rest and used SS bed strips as drill guides. Add SS angle covers over side bed rails. All new SS hardware too. You can get fancy but i am officially old now and don't have the time or skill anymore. See Page 3 of build link below.

The combination of SS, Synthetic and "rino" liners has withstood our harsh salt sea environment amazingly well.
