Replacing 6.5 turbo with 454

Picking up a 1994 3500HD with a bad engine. It is a 5 speed. Is the 454 swap fairly simple?

I'd find out why the engine is bad first. If it's simple keep the 6.5... they have big block numbers with better than small block fuel economy...
