Anyone use PEX for air lines?

Im about to plumb my house and going with PEX, I also need to run a new air line across my shop with several drops and thought PEX might work for this as well. Anyone done it? I have a neighbor that used PVC about 30 years ago and he has never had a problem, I like wirking with it but have heard of horror stories when used for air?

pvc is hard on walls and insulation when large chunks explode. don't know about pex. might want to keep your air pressure low.

On their site that kit is 139.99.
Not a bad price.

Re: Anyone use PEX for air lines?

I used black pipe to plumb my garage. It cools the air really well. Have a valve at the bottom to drain off the condensation. Wasn't too expensive either. I can take some pictures if you want.

Agree w/ tiny.
Slope the pipe so it drains in one direction or another and water can collect in one or two places. No more. I see people making systems that can collect water in 5 places--don't do it.
Bigger pipe and diameters end to end are vital--volume of air/waters/whatever depends on pipe diameter.

PVC is long known as hard on people as well. Steer clear.

Where is the natural cooling, or heat sinking of that magic product push?
Got a 100' temp or velocity comparison?

Re: Anyone use PEX for air lines?

A few guys over at garage Journal have done PEX and been happy with it. I'm thinking of that myself since I have the tooling and it is super easy to work with.

Not a bad price for enough to do a complete shop.

Ive used black iron before in my first shop and only had to make a short run. I just have a lot of this PEX right now. Post up some pics of how you did yours, always looking for ideas.

Re: Anyone use PEX for air lines?

Just a thought...I don't think PEX is rodent proof...as compared to copper or gas pipe...
