Re: 84 c10 stepside

Jeff,

The "Chevrolet" white lettering looks really nice, and adds to the whole rear appearance of your truck. Like it a lot. The tires from the rear

Where did you get your white "Chevrolet" letters, I will be adding them to my tail gate once the paint has finished off gasing.

Re: 84 c10 stepside

I gotta ask, why did you use spacers between the bed and frame?

Re: 84 c10 stepside

They're hockey pucks it was so the fenders didn't rub on the tires with the way the wheels ended up going on but I like the way it needed up rubber mounting the bed much less noise than if the bed was ridged mounted if I change the wheels at some point to 5x5 with no spacers I'll take them out to lower it that much more but I don't mind the stance now it's good for around here you'd be surprised how much quieter it is with the bee rubber mounted

No not yet,i have to cut the floor / build a frame for them but I decided to wait until the new drivetrain is in place before I do that would be easier to use other seats out of an older blazer or something for sure but I like the newer chevyness /integrated seatbelts of the seats I got so I'm gonna see it thru after the motor swap didn't want to get them in there and have the new drivetrain hit the frame I gotta make for the seats I'm gonna attack that soon trying to get everything I need lined up to pull it apart in November -Jeff

Re: 84 c10 stepside

Jeff,
Glade to see you are starting, look forward to your build/picture how to. Will be very nice when done. I really like the lift, want one in my garage too. I am doing a little tweaking on mine trying get the headers to fit wo/ notching or rolling the frame a little. Looking at where rear of trans mounts, to make sure it is correct.
Please keep the pictures coming.

Re: 84 c10 stepside

Jeff,
What are you planning to use as exhaust manifolds? Just media blasted a set of manifolds from a newer truck 5.3 and 6.0. They look really nice, and they are reported to make excellent power.

Hey les, the lift is at my friends shop. I'd like to have one in my garage also the ceiling is a little too low where I'm at.the plan is to use the stock truck manifolds but if they prove to be too much of a pain I might have to explore some other options maybe some camaro headers? Or some made for the swap $ trying to stay stock if I can.

i had the exact same thing happen with LMC when i ordered bolts through them

Yeah, didn't like the thin bolts not that I'm gonna be hàuling anything in the bed I'm sure a bunch of stepper owners have a set of those they didn't use.

Re: 84 c10 stepside

If you use CarShop 1" setback plates, they will place the engine/trans in the same location as the SBC. They are about $45 on ebay.

Re: 84 c10 stepside

Jeff,

Looking good, what do think about engine fitment overall? Are your exhaust manifolds going to work? It would be very nice to be able to use them.

Any plans for starting the new engine. I am hoping to get mine running this week??

Re: 84 c10 stepside

Thanx les it's looking like the stock manifolds arnt gonna cut it too tight other than that it fits good I'm even able to use the driveshaft without cutting it gotta come up with a fuel pump and design a fuel system hook up the new radiator and do some wiring to get things running
