2000 rust problems?

Anyone else had problems with rocker panels and cab corners on 2000 model Silverado? Mine started bubbling the paint when it was around 6 years old and just got worse from there. I was just wondering if this was a common problem or if it was just mine.

Yup, I have to fire the welder on my 02....she was an Alabama truck, that made her way to Illinois. It will be rockers/cab corners, & wheel house outers, over the box. crazyL

Re: 2000 rust problems?

circa 2000 must have been a bad time for steel or something. My mom's 2000 suburban has some of the worse bubbling and rust on the bottom side that i have seen on a vehicle with that few miles. I admit there is some salt on the roads here during winter but the chassis paint looks like the metal was rotting from the inside out, like it was scaling and blistering.

On a side note, if you are having problems with your sheet metal, take a good look at your brake lines also. One of hers blew and it was a bear to replace. the lines looked like they were from the titanic in spots yet perfectly ok in others.

Having the same issues with my 2000 GMC. Driver side rocker is 75% rust, rear wheel arches on both sides are are quickly rusting away. Cab corners show no signs of rust (yet).
