Re: "I Hate When That Happens"

I hate when it's the beginning of December you have already had two months of winter

Oh, well - keeps the weaklings out of the territory, I keep telling myself.

Florida has the opposite problem. There are good people I know, but it seems to be where the losers end up. Maine doesn't have that problem for Back East. I'm working for a feller that has a place in the Keys. He used to have a house but that was swept away to the bare slab by Irma two years ago. And he had no insurance! Now he is jumping through hoops to get it rebuilt before the deadline set that cuts off any chance for rebuilding in that county. Big Pine Key.

I was telling him about my sister and BIL in Maine and how I've considered moving there to retire. Property is cheap and I'll just sit out the bad days. They live in one end of a pole building, 2 stories. He has 711 acres of hardwood and a wood boiler running heat in the slab. He can step out into his shop with his coffee in stocking feet onto a warm shop floor, never go outside. This guy I'm talking to says, "You know what they call people who move to Maine? Mainiacs" har har har. Like I never heard that one before. I looked at him and asked, "What do they call people who had their house swept away by a hurricane who are busting their butt to build another?"

Silence before the conversation started back up in another direction

I like when that happens

Sometimes I wish we had a barn like that: living quarters on one end and hay, tack room, and horse run-in on the other.

Unfortunately we still get our share of weirdos up here. Usually they only stay a few years but then another will move in.

Re: "I Hate When That Happens"

I drink one cup of coffee a day. It’s a 36oz cup. I usually finish it before I start work. One time years ago I didn’t finish my cup before I got to the job. No problem, I’ll just grab a swig here and there as I’m going in and out of the house. Well I was so busy I never thought about that coffee until I was done with the job and drivin home. I looked at my cup and thought cool. Took a big gulp of cold coffee. Shock!!!
I hate when that happened.
Not so bad if you know it’s cold.

Re: "I Hate When That Happens"

Super glue - dangerous in my house!
Event #1 - in the process of glueing an emblem back on the car fender, I put the tube in my teeth to pull off the cap, forgetting how tightly I was holding the tube. Major explosion of super glue in my mouth! Tongue was immediately stuck to the inside of my upper molars. Bloody, sore tongue after several minutes of trying to pull it off my teeth. Eating, drinking and talking was a challenge for several days after that.
Event # 2 - I get a frantic call at work from my wife, telling me that she had accidently super glued her finger to the wall thermostat cover while she was trying to glue a broken piece back on. She was afraid to dislodge her stuck finger because of all the skin that was going to tear off. Don't know what she thought I could do about it, but I ran home to help. When I got there, she was standing there with her bloody finger in her mouth. She says "next time, you do the super gluing!" Like I can be trusted with stuff?? Hate it when that happens!!!

Re: "I Hate When That Happens"

Oooh that's bad

And when you go to bond the thing you are using Super Glue for it doesn't hold due to moisture or residues from insufficient prep. I hate when THAT happens. Now you have dried Supr Glue as a bonding deterrent

Re: "I Hate When That Happens"

Many years ago I guy I knew and his dad rebuilt the engine for his Mustang. Got it all together, fired it up, it wouldn't develop any oil pressure. Dad goes over to the box that the oil pump came in, with the oil pump still in it. Yup, they were hating when that happened.

That's funny - sounds like something I would do!
