Reistor's
Does anybody have a link to the gauge resistors on the 67-72 trucks? Why the different colors on them?
Do these resistor interchange with outher gauges? I would think so. Anybody know for sure? http://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/s...auge-resistor/ http://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/s...auge-Resistor/

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. Last edited by Andy4639; 01-07-2018 at 05:04 PM. |

Re: Reistor's
Andy I read an article on the gauge resistors and according to them the senders have certain dead spots in their resistance to heat to ground relationships. The sender will have a spot where the coolant heat has to rise quite a bit to effect any movement in the gauge needle.
To smooth that out, the engineers calibrated the resistors to the senders and the gauges and I assume the colors identify the resistance values. one of our members, Tom TBone has done quite a bit of experimenting on the gauges and resistors and he may know more about the subject also he has a stock of resistors and he repairs gauges and clusters. Here's a thread by him on fuel gauges so you can PM on the subject. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=640615

Yea I was messing with the ramp truck gauges the other week and got the temp gauge working again. I had swapped it over to a tach cluster I had bought and the temp gauge never worked so I did some looking and found what I think was a gas resistor on the temp gauge. I swapped it with another temp gauge I had and checked it per your Ohms readings. it all checked good so I reinstalled and it's working. That got me thinking about the resistor's. Thanks I PM'ed TBONE1964.

Re: Reistor's
Thanks Tom.
Always enjoy learning from the pro's! I sent you a couple of link's that say they have the resistors.
