Re: 1998 rearend fluid?
I’ve had good luck using Lucas gear oil sold at advance or the zone especially their I’m thinking mine was 80/90, but double check though I’ve got a g80 and had a Yukon ls put in it to replace the factory locker. I’m not at home but I can double check my books tomorrow if someone else don’t chime in and help ya

Re: 1998 rearend fluid?
For my 97 suburban with a gov-lock, I used 80W-90, API GL-5. I know it said to not use a friction modifier with the Gov Lock. You should be able to google around and find a factory manual.

Re: 1998 rearend fluid?
Standard 80w-90 is what was in there from the factory, and that's all I use in mine. rpmerf is correct, do not use a friction modifier.

Thanks guys. I am just now getting it back together, I don't have a garage to put it in so with the storms here in Arizona haven't been able to do it in one shot.
