Engine hold down
This is the cable and brackets that were installed to keep the engine from breaking the motor mount I think these were a recall item $30.00 shipped conus

Thanks and payment sent to you. Just an interesting note: I had never heard of these until yesterday. A person who also sells parts locally was showing me these on one of his original trucks. He stated that he had only seen one or two in the time that he had been collecting and selling parts. What timing!

It looks like the same type of cable as in your previous picture. On his truck, the hold down had two cables. According to Chuck (Chuck's truck haven), the earlier trucks had a solid accelerator linkage. If the motor mount broke (I guess due to torque) it could cause the accelerator rod to stick in the full open throttle position, creating a hazard. GM's solution was to install these cable hold downs to keep that from happening. I guess that two cables were better than one?

This was General Motors lame attempt to not admit that the motor mounts were a defective design. The motor mounts from the early 60's for the High Performance 409 were the answer to the problem but they would require a recall and much more $$$ to fix it.

So, in my 69 truck without this extra bracket: since 69 had the solid rod linkage that pulls the throttle when I press the pedal, if my motor mount fails it could pull against the linkage when the engine flops around, resulting in wide open throttle. Is that the idea?
