Remove or not to remove rain gutters

How many of you are removing the rain gutters above the door? Does it make a difference in the rain? I plan on driving mine everyday rain or shine and wondered if there is a advantage to the gutters or not. My doors are not fitting my cab very well and one of the things is the doors hit the gutters and thought about taking them out. I do really like them, but just not sure what to do with them.

gutters actually hide a lot of flaws in the door fitment; gap/no gap, in/out, up/down, etc...

Re: Remove or not to remove rain gutters

I showed the body shop a picture of my cab with the doors on and he said I should have a 1/8" gap around the door so the paint does not rub off. Most places between my door and my cab don't come close to having a gap like that

Re: Remove or not to remove rain gutters

If you plan on driving your truck in the rain I would not remove them they do a pretty good job. I removed mine because my truck will be a fair weather friend.lol Also _Ogre is correct the drip rails do a pretty good job of hiding the gap that is between the door and roof like. I had to had metal to get it right. I love the look but if I were planning on driving my truck rain or shine I would not have done it.

Re: Remove or not to remove rain gutters

I have mine removed on my old cab and got water down my neck every time I got in or out of the truck in the rain. Worse though is water tends to roll around the edge of the top and in the space above the door top and get inside if it is really raining hard.

Re: Remove or not to remove rain gutters

I removed mine. I like how they turned out. To me they give the cab more of a hot rod look. I plan to leave them on my 53 Burb though.

Re: Remove or not to remove rain gutters

I did a lot of work to the top on my truck, but left the gutters on. IMO, smoothing the top at factory ht. helps because it takes away from how tall the top is. Since my top is shorter, I dressed them dead straight with a sanding block and left them on. I like the result.
