Door lock
Does anyone know a good method for locking the passenger side door when using the Altman bear claw latches?

i was just going to install a key lockcylinder like the one in the drivers door, have not got that far yet though. if this won't work will someone enlighten me.

How to rig the lock cylinder linkage is in the instruction sheet for the 47/51 trucks.
http://www.triquemfg.com/content/194...structions.pdf It says you can't push the handle forward and lock the doors from the inside and that you either have to figure out and make a lock rod or use electric actuators to lock the doors from the inside. On the 52 and up I think the lock cylinder in the door handle pushbutton locks the pushbutton it's self. That can be a bit of a pain as you have to walk around and lock the other door from the outside unless you figure out how to do it from the inside.

I appreciate the suggestions, but both seem to be inconvenient. I thought about it and came up with a simple modification and it works pretty well. I can add a billet knob after upholstery is installed. The rod moves about 1/2" to lock and unlock.

you could prolly make it work. the only thing I am thinking is that the weight of the mechanism may auto lock the door as you drive over bumps etc. could you run a longer rod up and have the old fashioned vertical lock rod at the base of the window, rear edge?

Problem is my doors and door panels are already final painted and i didn't think of this option. I may have to just walk around and lock the passenger door externally like the driver's door

You push it up to lock down to unlock. The pics are reversed makes it a little confusing. Since the left door can be locked by key I will only make this mode on the pass side. Don

This is on a 53 5 window. 6.0 iron block, scatt rods, flat top floaters, custom grind cam, LS3 heads intake and injectors, edelbrock throttle body, Sanderson headers, 4L80 tran, 8.8 ford limited slip, 3.73. S10 frame. I am 78. Dad gave this truck to my son in 1975. He was 13 at the time. I built the eng, did the wiring. He mounted the body and did all the rust repair. Great fun! Don
