Well finally started on my long over due project about a month ago. Picked it up in Reno about 5 years ago, and it has been sitting on the back burner ever since. While it was sitting here in South Texas it started to develop some cancer that was not there when I purchased it. Kind of a good thing that it did cause I would not have known until I had dumped a ton of money into other areas and then found out about all the cancer. I am now finding out from reading on the forum and looking at other builds this rust is very common. Basically the rockers, rocker boxes,rocker box reinforcement panels, lower front quarter panel, front floors, front door pillars, and rear wheel tubs. So here is where I am so far.

Replaced outer floor pan, Rocker panel,Front door pillar, and B pillar patch panel.

Next step is to tackle the rear floor area around the wheel tubs.
Only the passenger side has any rust. Weird!

This truck will be getting a LS2 6.0 out of a 07 corvette backed by a 700r4 with a 205 transfer case. Front and rear ends will be a Dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear with 4.56s rolling on 35x12.5-17s. I already have all running gear, just trying to finish up the body first.

I have been going like gang busters on this project. I would like to have it ready for paint by th end of June. Spent this weekend blasting the radiator support and painting it. I finished replacing all the rusted area around the passenger wheel tub. I have been stocking up on lots of parts off the classified section. My Boyds custom EFI fuel tank will be here tomorrow. I need to finish all the sheet metal replacement so I can get the body off and get it media blasted. Found a local source for powder coating that said they could do my frame and axles, so I have to get those ready. More pics to come.

Some more goodies came in today. BIG THANKS to Dave Boyd for the super nice fuel tank!

Also picked these up today for the rear seats. Now I have to locate some front buckets to match.

Its always good to get new parts! Thats great that your are going to lay down paint in June. I have been working on my blazer for 2.5 years and am hoping to get it painted before the end of the year! Keep up the good work.

Got a lot done this weekend. The floor pan I got from member jessewebb came in on Saturday. I opened the box and got to work. Here is the result.

Tell me about the fuel tank. I'm looking for an easy replacement on my 71... larger capacity. I hear the 74 and up blazer tanks fit without much of an issue. How much was yours, capacity and was it hard to install?

Blazer boss the tank is made by Boyd welding. They are a vendor on this forum. Mine is a fuel injected model with a in tank pump. The regular tanks run $345 or so and are 19 gallons.

As for updates, I have still been busy finding parts. I found a pair of second row black leather bucket seats from a cadillac escalade on craigslist. I picked up a nice single wall top from a fellow board member in Arkansas. I picked up a pair of NOS front fenders and a restored tilt column from HeavyMetalChevy. Scored a nice tailgate from another board member. Also scored a new complete Black carpet set from a fellow board member. I love this forum

Now I just need to find a set of doors. I think that is going to be the biggest challenge. I will get some pics up ASAP.

Been pretty busy at work, but here is a few update pics.

Spent this weekend restoring a console I bought from d.garza9,
and installing the billet cup holder from PICKMUP



My wife decided that the surplus Blazer parts needed to go, so I made her happy and made a bench out of the old tailgate.



Been stuck on the body. I had a guy lined up to media blast the tub but his 50 HP compressor took a dump. So stuck in limbo waiting on him to get that fixed and then on to body work and paint. In the mean time I will be working on the chassis. More pics to come.........

LOVE the bench seat! And I have my old tailgate. Hated to throw it out... Great idea!

Thats Exactly where she saw it. That website is the devil LOL! She has a long list of projects for me now. I dont know if the blazer will ever get finished now.

How did you get the dimensions for welding in the panel in your second picture? Mine are shot and I am so afraid of welding them in wrong and having it look like crap! Who did you get your parts through? looks good cant wait to see yours finished it should be nice!n

Banana all the parts came from GMC Pauls. They are a vendor here. Top quality parts.
As for measurements, my panel was not completely gone. So I measured off of it and compared it to the new panel. Dont cut anything until you get the new metal to compare it to and measure multiple times and cut once.

It also helps to bolt in rocker box and reinforcing panel on the back.

I need to get some updated pics posted. I just recieved some cherry rust free doors from Arizona. My pyle of parts seems to be growing by the day. I bit the bullet and ordered a soda blaster from Eastwood. So I guess I will be blasting this thing myself.

Been a while since my last update.
I have changed the whole project around quite a bit. Now 2 wheel drive.
Went with a no limit wide ride front setup and their rear 4 link setup with coilovers.
I got my drivetrain done. Narrowed the rearend and got it powdercoated.

That's a great looking engine, are the covers and intake actual carbon fiber or just wrapped?
