Question tranny bolt patterns

I assume that the 235 inline 6 has a different transmission bolt pattern from the later 265,327,350 small block V8s. Is that correct?

If I wanted to hook something like a 200-4R or 700R4 behind my 235, does anyone know if there is a good way of doing it (adapter plate, flex plate, etc.)?

Negative. The 235 was a different pattern than the common GM pattern. The common pattern started in the ealry 60's on six cylinders with the 230 engine. The small block had the common pattern since it's introduction in 1955.

Check out www.stovebolt.com and look at the forum board. That board revolves around 235 engines.

Yup. Stovebolt had the info. Looks like there are adapter plates, but I wonder if the old 235 is actually capable of pulling the truck in overdrive at 70-80 mph.
