AC Hose ?

I'm getting all the parts together I need to bring back the AC to my 83.

I'm going to be replacing the evap & condenser coils, orifice tube, drier & will be installing the Sanden 508 compressor.

Now, where can I find the correct AC hoses that will attach to the new compressor?

I've look & can only find the hoses listed that will connect to the old style factory compressor.

Any help ??

Re: AC Hose ?

I just redid my 81. I had new hoses made locally to the original compressor manifold. They make special gaskets/seals/o'ring (not sure what name they are officially called) that adapt the manifold to the compressor. Mine actuallu use 2 different thicknesses in the seal between the 2.

Re: AC Hose ?

So, I could buy that compressor manifold adapter kit & then use an OEM AC hose kit?

This will work. Make the hoses up and have them crimped locally.

Re: AC Hose ?

My gaskets/seals came with the compressor I purchased on ebay. I honest don't know what to look for by name. If you have the factory hoses/lines/manifold, just use them and get a compressor that will fit your brackets.

Ebay has a lot of kits ready to go.

Just get an lines made locally. Ebay may even have lines to go with them, I didn't look that much.

That's just it...I don't have the OG hoses or compressor brackets.

Thanks for that ebay link though....

Re: AC Hose ?

I would go to the junkyard and get all the stuff you can off a 90-95 Chevy GMC V8 or V6 truck and convert yours to a serpentine setup while you are at it. It might be easier than finding all the stuff you need that way, then looking for the 83-87 stuff

Not a bad idea.
Hoses are custom. If you have the manifold that fits your compressor then it's a matter of putting barrier hose between the manifold and the condenser/evaporator ports hardline fittings. A half decent AC shop should be able to crimp barrier hoses onto the hardline fittings.
If you just have to make your own Mastercool sells a nice AC hose crimping tool... Sit down before you look at the price.

Re: AC Hose ?

This is what I use. All the Red Dopt A/C systems we installed in Afghanistan used these. They work great & you can un clip the clamps & disassemble them & re-clamp.
