need help with dashboard repair!!! - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 72 Chevy C-10 deluxe fleetside with a wound from an idiot previous owner. He filed out the stock radio hole to fit a newer stereo. Now there's a big gaping hole in the dash. I bought a nice replacement AC dash on ebay a while back but my dilemma is this: can I just cut out what I need from the parts dash and weld it into mine if I cut both to match? My dash overall is in a heck of a lot better shape than the one I bought, so I really don't want to remove it completely. Help!!!!!!!!

I did a couple a/c dash conversions. I simply take the dashpad off and cut the dashes there, the dash is perferated there and the dash pad hides the welds. It is easy to change out the whole dash panel this way.

IF YOU DO JUST REPLACE THE CENTER SECTION OF THE DASH, CUT THE PERFORATIONS UNDER THE DASH PAD, & VERTICALLY THE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HOLE & THRU THE GLOVE BOX HOLE. VERY LITTLE SHOWS TO NEED FILLER.

Welcome from Maryland traie8. Yes, you can cut the section you need and weld it to your existing dash. You can grind the edges down and feather them out with Bondo. My dad did this on his truck and it looks like new.
