believe me when i say i keep anything from these trucks that can be used and or sold. some of the parts for these trucks do not have a market i.e; LWB frames, drum brake front ends, HO52 rear ends( tried to give one away on this forum....no takers), cabs needing complete floor boards, etc. i go to 4-5 swapmeets per year, sell a few things here, and on CL to put these parts back in circulation. i do not just buy'em to crush'em.

I was thinking the same thing. I can remember back in 86 it went down to around 1 cent a pound.

its about 12.75 /100lbs right now here most the old trucks around here are the ones hauling the newer stuff to the scrap yard, seriously

I see both sides to this...good because it raises the value of trucks and parts. Bad because it raises the value of trucks and parts

And bad because people lose the chance to get certain rare parts that are crushed

LOL. Yeah I didn't do the math. The sign actually said 11:25. Maybe they don't take them till after 11:25 am every day.

Years from now people are gonna be saying, I can't believe I sold that frame for just $200. Would you send a model A or T frame to the crusher? For some people who have no place to keep them I might understand, but before you send these classics to the furnace, give your fellow enthusiasts a chance at them.

I try to sell everything I can before I crush one. But then again, I am doing it to fund my projects. I have to try to get the best bang for my buck. I have had people try to steal the stuff and more times than less, you can get more out of some stuff in scrap right now due to prices being good now. I have a 70 I'm trying to decide what to do with.

Hello all,
Good thread; I wish we had incentive prices like you all have. Out here, 350 pounds of truck bed got me 350 cents. It is just not worth the aggravation, but you see the local junk guys buying all the old trucks up or receiving donations and crushing them in record numbers. The steel is sent back to the east for better return and financial gain.

I hit the yards yesterday and came across about a dozen 67-72 trucks...they seem to really be coming in now, and that means less time in the yard before they get crushed. I try to grab all I can off of them before they go to the crusher.

i live in alabama and its $13.00 every hundred pounds here .... wish i could sit at thescrap yard all day long and stop everone from scraping these trucks but i was going by one day and there they hauled in a 1969 swb step and a 68 lwb step i was sick all that day thanking there is me a parts truck
