Re: Sportster build

Got these forward controls custom fabricated, finally got some time to put them on tonight and couldn't contain myself so I went for a night ride! For a shakedown ride at night it was awesome. Just re-aimed the headlight, secured some cables and the tail lamp burned up but the rest was pure

Re: Sportster build

Thanks! They were very reasonable $ and definitely unique. Not one-off but maybe two-off. I found the guy selling a set on Ebay, contacted him and he was top notch.

Re: Sportster build

Hey guys, any idea what this bike might sell for if properly marketed (i.e. professional pics, ebay, etc..)?

Re: Sportster build

Not sure what it would sell for but minimum would be kbb or nada value. I think it would/should sell for more than that though. Check out ebay completed listings on the exact same make and model of yours and see what you find.

Honestly I think you would be lucky to see book value. Custom motorcycle values are absolutely in the toilet.

Thanks Doug! Actually I found these father and son painters in Anderson, MO on Craigslist. Unbelievable but they did all the paint and pinstriping for $250. The stripes are not perfectly clean like you might see from a full time pro or at shows but they work and the black paint is very nice. The son is just getting started striping. and I promised them some professional pics to even out the deal. They would love your truck BTW.

Whoa, that sucks. All that work and no buyers, bet she's fast though! I'm not expecting much but maybe if I show it a bit this summer and take it to Bikes, Blues and BBQ in the fall it will sell.

Funny story that put a smile on my face last night...I went for a ride and cut through a neighborhood where I know a few folks. I tried to keep it quiet as possible but with those pipes it still makes some racket. As I was passing the house of some friends from our church, the guy was outside doing yardwork and obviously didn't recognize me with the helmet and glasse and such then he stopped, stared and started shaking his head with a serious "there goes the neighborhood" look. I laughed about that all the way home and my wife got a kick out of it too.

Re: Sportster build

Yeah, you'll get over trying to keep it quiet... my bike is extremely loud (133 cu. in. w/ 2-1/4" straight pipes) and I have learned to just ignore other peoples reactions. I just leave it in 2nd for city cruising- no sense making it "lug" itself around.

Re: Sportster build

thanks Leevon, got your pm. Yep, may have to give these cats a ring. $250 for all that is a great deal! I spent JUST $100 for my glovebox door!

Hey Hogdaddy, I'm over there too. I don't post a whole lot but I did start a build thread, needs an update. I like the attitudes on that forum, some of the other HD sites are just comical.

Re: Sportster build

I've been following this build, and I have to say awesome job on the bike!

My cousin just bought a '94 Heritage Classic Soft-tail, and wants me to get a bike so we can ride together - bar hop, cruise back roads, set off car alarms, the ususal.

If I had the money, I would be all over this. It's damn near spot on what I want in a bike. Stripped down, bobbed, pin stripped...I just dig it, especially since most people are running saddle bags, fog lights..etc.

Great job, and good luck with the sale. I will definitely be contacting you if/when I grab a builder bike.

-Sam.
