Cab and radiator body mounts.....

'71 C10. Two questions about changing out the cab and radiator rubber body mounts. Do I have to take out the fuel tank to change the rear two cab mounts? It looks like the tank is right on top of the bolt heads. I assume if I want to change the bolts I will have to.

Second question, I have an aftermarket large aluminum radiator that sits right on top of the front two radiator body mounts so I would assume I'll have to remove it to change the rubber mounts and bolts?

Thanks for any input.

Re: Cab and radiator body mounts.....

On my 69, the bolts come up from the bottom and thread into the cab. No need to remove the tank. I would think 71 should be the same way. I do beleive the radiator needs to come out to change the support mounts.

smn69 is correct about the rear cab bolts. They screw out from the bottom. The front cab bolts were inserted from the top and the head of the bolt is usually tack welded to the floorboard. After you take the nuts off of the bottom you will have to grind the tack welds off to get the bolt out. The head of the bolts are countersunk and they can be hard to get to to grind the weld. He is also right about the radiator having to be pulled for the core support mounts.
