Ok, Thanks. I'm thinking about positioning my 5.3 about 0.5" forward but don't want it to interfere with the caddy oil pan. Guess I just need to crawl under the truck and take some measurements.

Word of advice pay attention to fan space when moving forward. I'm using electric fans since my pull out and ECM was programmed for this anyway. The mounts I used also allowed the ece trans crossmember to line up with original holes on tithe frame.

Yeah I'm going with an electric fan setup too so no worries there. My truck currently has a 700R4 already so not much physical difference to the 4L60E. The only reason I was thinking 0.5" forward is because I want to use 3" forward motor mount plates with v8 motor mount stands in the 6 cylinder position on the frame (which are 2.5" back from the v8 holes), and this will put the motor mount far enough back on the block to allow the a/c compressor to fit in the factory low mount position.

I did some measuring and the truck pan sits about 1.75" below cross member and the cts-v appears to be a little over 2" shallower. I did find a couple of vendors for around $160 just for the pan.

I went with the caddy oil pan on mine, I don't have any pictures of it but it looks just like Daaaanz67's that he posted. It fit great no issues at all. I bought the pan, pickup tube, and dipstick & tube from a local GM dealer, and paid about 250 for all of it. It also came with a gasket and new bolts.

If anyone needs a cts-v pan, I have one off of my 99camaro engine swapped bmw... I changed it to the holley pan for more clearance. If anyone is interested, pan, windage tray, dipstick tube 100 plus shipping.

has any one tried removing truck pan and switiching with motor still in the truck?

I did, you have to lift or rock the engine up to clear it. Be very careful. Use a cherry picker if you do.
