Re: "Project 64"

Paul,

First, THANK YOU for your service to this country!!!

I hope you can keep your truck even if it has to sit on the back burner for a long time. The seccond you sell it you will regret it. I had a 63 Chevy II in high school that dad and I bought together. It was set up for racing (fast but not restored and no rust anywhere). To make a long story short I got in trouble and lost my job. Then I hit a lazy streek and did not get another job, so dad made me sell the car. I have regretted it ever since.

If you are still looking at Wyotec for school I do believe the campus in Florida is one of the best. There is another one in the N/W part of the country that I have herd is very good too but I don't remember what state it is in. My nephew is a senior in high school and wyotech actually came to his school and is offering him a full ride scholarship.

Re: "Project 64"

Yeah tell me about it. I spent a bunch of money with Jason, and I was going to buy the rear kit too, but didn't have the money. I've had this truck for a good while so I'm building it now.

Well the truck went under the knife again. I cut off my back half that I built, It looked croocked to me, but it measured right. I dont know. I'm building it diffrent from what it looks like now, gonna have a 45* in it coming from the stock metal to what I'm adding. It will look much better.

I'm taking it into work tomorrow, our shop is a little slow so guess what. I get to work on it. I'll try to get some pics of use building it. but I'll get pics of the end result for sure.

Re: "Project 64"

And for rims right now I'm running the 17" wires that are on it. I will sandblast them and coat in DP90 till I can afford some 20". I'm not really sure about the tire size I'm gonna run. I'll probably look at getting about a 28" tall tire. I'm setting up my noctch in the rear to run a 30" tire, with a little room to spare. On my front kit I can only run a 29.5 tall tire so I dont want to run a bigger one in the back.

Re: "Project 64"

well it's been a month since my last post. But I have my frame at my house now so I've been working on it.

I got to looking at the back half that i build and I didn't like it and I coldn't run any larger then a 27" tall tire. so I cut it out and I built this. I'm not done, but it's a start. I can now run a 35" tire if I want.

I'll start making my crossbars for it and make my fuelcell cage. I'm waiting to get my DOM tube for the link bars and the bungs and end links.

Now you can take all the money you were going to give to the lawyers and spend it on your truck. Nice to see you working on the truck again.

Re: "Project 64"

I was thinking more about Thornburgs.

Hell I wish I had some money to work on the truck, Everything I've been doing lately I either had already or getting for free. Theres still a lot I have to do yet. I believe this build will take several years. Once I get the frame done I have to rebuild the rear end. It's the stock 17 spline with 4.10s I'm running a turbo350 so I'm gonna drop to 3.42's.

Re: "Project 64"

I checked it. You can raise the back up and check it that way by turning the wheels. I cant remember the thread I found that on, but I'll look for it.

there is two numbers stamped on the ring gear like 41 & 10 that would be a 4:10 ring and pinion
you divide the larger number by the smaller number

Re: "Project 64"

There is also the part number and the date stamped into the ring gear. You just have to separate them so they make sense.
