Re: Is there a build thread on this truck

I've never seen one but in my estimation that isn't much of a build and more of a slapped together.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

I just can't call a pile of rust sitting on a frame with far too narrow front suspension (Toyota motorhome perhaps?) with a few sticks of square tubing on the back a "build".

If its what the person likes and he built it, then its a build. The Original poster asked about it so he likes it. As the great James Brown said "Some like them fat, some like the tall, some like them short, skinny legs and all". Its all in the eye of the beholder.

But hey thats just me I don't **** on peoples builds.

Re: Is there a build thread on this truck

I'm thinking that the Turbobims would like to know what chassis the guy use. As I mentioned earler quite possibly a late 80's Toyota motorhome chassis. Those little motorhomes seem to fall apart after a few years but the chassis can probably go on forever and is a quite narrow 1 ton.

We all have our ideas of what trucks are supposed to look like and some like the roached out rusted away look. Personally I don't.

My original comment still stems on the concept that the truck looks like someone threw it together in about a weeks time. Possibly against a deadline to make the event the photo was taken at. Pretty much like one of my buddies who used to have a wrecking yard did a few times. the Hey what if we pulled the body off that one over there and stuck that cab and nose off that one over there on it? Then did it and drove it around he block two days later.

Just because you don’t like it doesn’t meant that there isn’t a build going on. I as well didn’t want to put shiny paint on mine does that mean mine isn’t a build either....

I wonder what it looks like when it is aired up.

Re: Is there a build thread on this truck

Well there is a lot more construction to it than originally appeared, The rear looks like a ten bolt. I think Dsraven hit on one thing for sure, that the wheels are bolted on with adapters. S-10 or more likely a Japanese or Euro light truck chassis with the cab set over on it and adapters to bolt the dualie wheels on it?

The first photos just showed another roached out body with an ill fitting visor slapped on a later chassis. The photos in post 17 show that it does actually have a lot of work in it but someone worked pretty hard to fake the dualie look.

No telling what the actual chassis is due to where the truck is. It's a serious case of use what you have and make the rest. Back half looks to be tube frame with 4 link. Gotta quit, the mop dude is moving me out of the way to mop the floor.
