on another note my oil pump is in I ned to get it painted and put on....still trying to save some $$ for the BS stuff when I do the swap..I think I need to put a windshield gasket in it first since if I get cought in the rain its going to leak all over my new carpet and insulation..NOT GOOD...

Thanx I have since painted the tailgate and since I'm in Fla till tomorrow I'm kinda stuck but the roads are so nice down here its killing me.....I would love to have my truck here and show some of these bling bling trucks with 20 plus's some old school lessons!! wsith the left front about 6" in the air and the rear bumper dragging....Kids

today was another good day first big swap meet and I did pretty well I bought

high torque starter..$40
clutch fan $5
3 sizes of wire split loom $4 each
Drive shaft with the Yoke I needed $10
A/C condensor ( in front of rad) $5

well it def is fun and a DD I've been saving up for the install but since then I was given a set of drop spindels that are/where 5 lug...I found out that you can swap the 5 lug discs for the 92 2500 with under 7300lb..they are a direct bolt on bearings/seals everything...the problem is cash flow the disc swap will still require new ball joints and tie rod ends...about $300 in all which is a good chunk of what it will take to install this...Its complete the oil pan will be here tomorrow and it will get the silver paint and the trans pan is going to be black...

I was going for the Harley engine look what do you guys think

cool build...now, explain some more about the early 90's front rotors?

the rotor deal is pretty simple if you have a set of CPP/western spindles you can use a set of 1992 2500 ( under 7300 gvw ) rotors this will keep the 6 lug pattern...I have not tried to see if they fit on the stock 71/72 spindle or the newer 73/87 spindles but that could be checked pretty easy by a good parts guy

On a side note I can't wait anymore... staring at the Caddy is killing me I think next week maybe the time to start the install..Just need to get though the holiday weekend

In your earlier posts, you had a camper in the back of the truck. Does that camper fit between the new wide wheel tubs?

I have a '67 GMC that I was planning on a similar setup for ride height and tire sizes, and just lucked out seeing a picture of yours in another topic. That's the exact stance I'm looking for. I also have a similar pop-up style camper that I want to use, so I'm wondering if I have much room to play on the wheel tubs. I have shorter coil springs and drop spindles already to install in mine, but I might consider installing air bags in the future because I want to use it a daily driver/work truck when I'm done. I'll likely just try to bring the original paint to shine instead of painting. Paint is too expensive.

No that was a after thought...so I'm looking for an old pop up to drag along now....of course I'm going to bag/tub that too!!!

besides I don't think shorter springs will take a likeing to that much weight...all that being said I think if it was a camper for a Mini truck it may fit. I have 41 1/2" betwen the wheel wells

I'll have to measure the camper base and my existing wheel wells to see what room I have for width. I may just tub the truck and modify the camper to fit the tubs. At the rear, I'm going to run 31x12.5R15 on 15x10 wheels. I haven't bought the tires yet, but that's going to be one of the first steps so I can see how wide to the inside I have to go once I swap the diff out for a later 12-bolt with 5 bolt axles.

trust me go witht the 29" tall tires or they will rub at the top of your wheel wells..unless you move them up too

I might move them up. I was picking those tires as they are tame radial all terrain tread truck tires, and they have matching fronts at 29x9.5 size (Pro-comp). They price out cheaper than using pro-street tires, and have a decent load rating. I have some worn out 31x10.5's I will try out first though. if its too much interference, I will have to go with more expensive smaller non-truck tires. Thanks for the tip!

well as far as an update to my project I scored a DS fender at the swap meet...I plan to change it out when I do the transplant I have the time but not the cash it seems like thats always the issue.....
