Inner fender covers
I have a 1990 454 ss truck and I want to cover up the ugly on both sides of my inners fenders. I want them to be easy to remove for repairs and I don’t want to permanently alter my truck in any way expect for maybe holes for screws. This place wants $375 for the fender covers and $175 for the electric fan cover. Not including shipping.Does anyone know of a place to get them other then VanNatta fabrication that might be a little more budget friendly or have any pics of there own ideas.

Re: Inner fender covers
well, i am in the process of tackling this myself. i havent seen anything i that i like. Even the sloshtubs i think look to plump.
i do like the stock well somewhat...so i plan to bolt my stocker back in, but trim straight down along the fender from inside the engine bay, then plave a wide trailer fender in the location and make the two marry. this will allow a stock bolt in well, with a smoother look that can be finished off ( paint and vertical panel to cover suspension parts). |

Re: Inner fender covers
i have also given though to making full cover panels like you pictured, but mine wont protrude out. they will simply lay flat against the firewall and fender as a cover panel for looks.

Re: Inner fender covers
My old '88 C2500...... I cleaned up the fender areas by re-routing / wire looms and factory-looking paint.

Re: Inner fender covers
Another good idea. Unfortunately, I have a lot of wiring and it would be to tough to reroute at this point. I would have to add connectors and extra wire or run new wire for everything I have done so far. I have a lot of full length wire running from under the dash throughout the engine bay. I also want to cover the overflow, master cylinder, washer tank and battery. I wish I would of thought about your idea before i started wiring everything a few years ago. Anyone else

Re: Inner fender covers
Fred... I can imagine how fender covers could dress up the engine bay.
But maybe have the panels 'rounded' at the bends, or something like that... The covers in your photos look sort of "industrial" , rather than "automotive" shape? ( Painted satin black will make yours look like they belong also)

Re: Inner fender covers
Thanks mountie. That’s the idea I was looking for. Your right, I think rounded would give me the look I want. I will have to mock it up with cardboard, but I think this is it. The toughest part for me in having square fender covers would be finding a 4 foot bender. Also a bead roller won’t be necessary either. Now I just have to buy a sheet of aluminum. Nice part rounding won’t require anything expensive, just big piece of pvc pipe to bend it over. Also painting it matte black is another great idea.

Re: Inner fender covers
Fred.... I was looking at the photos of those panels...... Trying to come up with another shape - design...... ( I used to live in SoCal., so I hung out with some known custom car guys).......
I was wondering about you going to a wrecking yard, and take measurements of pickup truck bed wheel wells. Possibly cutting them out and use that "truck shape" and fabricate them as your covers? ( Bottom of wheel well at bed, may be the length of your top fender length?) Just a thought
