Hey guys, my names Jake and I'm new to the world of c10's I've had mine, an orange long stepper named Carmen for about 6 months now and I am happy I have her. Just wanted to make an introductory post. That's all. If any of you are around North Carolina. She needs a lot of help haha.

I like it! When we were getting ready to put a new shell on our truck, I was looking for a long bed stepside. Once I discovered that I could get the whole rear of the shell to lift up (I do woodworking/construction (even though I'm retired), and need to get full sheets of plywood into the camper), I quit looking.

Welcome. I sold this truck to a older gentleman in Jacksonville about 4-5 years ago. I think his name was Pete. Very nice man.

Well fellas I am in the Jacksonville nc area. So that's where she stays, and yep I'm pretty sure she was a fleet vehicle, she also has the factory manual and protect'O'plate thing.
And records dating back to '88. She's an inline 6 250 with the 4 on the floor. I picked her up because I thought she was a unique find. And the first longbed stepside I have ever seen.

Morning gents.

I have the opportunity to pick up a 350 with everything on it for a good deal. And I'm throwing the idea around to possibly swap it into my truck. How difficult would that be?
I'm keeping my 4speed. And want to do this as cheaply as possible. Any ideas?

Good looking truck! Roof mounted light, and 3 in the cab, going four wheeling with no seatbelts, driver trying to be Walker Evans, just don't work out for the middle guy (me)!

You will find this forum a great help as you build that long stepper into
YOUR truck! I am with you on keeping the 4 spd. Don't try to do everything at once and
burn out. Have a Blast working and driving that long stepper!!

That is a nice truck, especially for what appears to be a fleet vehicle. I know when we got rid of fleet trucks they were beaten to death.

Thank you dirk! Yeah the 4 speed is not going anywhere. I'm building her into a nice daily I can eventually turn into a show truck. Plus it was the first thing my wife and I bought together so I guess she's not going anywhere for a while.

I plan on rebuilding the 250 and keeping it for when I want to do a complete restore on her. That way OG motor it's good to go. And yes she was fleet vehicle but hey, can't complain for the uniqueness of the long stepper!!!

Cool truck you have there. I'm no expert (but there are several here), but I think you're right, Carmen is at least somewhat unique: Long step, I6, 4 speed. That's not a combination you here about everyday. So I'm kinda with other poster fond of the 6 banger...dropping a 350 in there will make her a little more ordinary, that's all. Either way, nice find.

Looking forward to seeing what you wind up doing!
