Re: Should I buy this truck for $1000?

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Patience paid off. Truck is mine. Seller wouldn't sell before, but I ended up with it this week. Best part, it was free!

Going to start the process of retrieving it tomorrow...

Here is the longer story. Owner of truck died. I offered owners daughter $1000 for it, and she agreed. Then owners brother showed up and said $10,000, even though it wasn't his to sell.

Owners brother has since passed. I am helping daughter sell some other of her fathers stuff, so she gave me the truck.

Sad ending for the family. I’m happy you got it though. Persistence can pay off in the end, congrats!

Maybe quoting you a price at all is downright lethal. Did you ever think of that?

"Free" is in most people's price range.

You got lucky that the brother put the price so high, even if you did have to wait two years! What a story. Congrats, that is a really nice truck.

Truck has been retrieved and successfully delivered to this guy for reconditioning. There should be some videos of it being worked on before too long. We are excited!

Guy who restores cars. Specializes in C3 Corvettes. Has a lot of videos on YouTube. He is pretty young.

Going to get a price as he digs into it a bit. We are "time and materials" at this point.

I am no richer than you are, most certainly poorer!

He comes very highly regarded. I have seen a lot of his work.

Post Restoration Shops

O.K., I liked the cars he chose to work on, don't have the time to watch videos .

I've seen so many get badly burned by 'time and materials' .

When I ran a shop I was honest, 100% if it was too $pendy that was fine, I never cheated / gouged anyone and still have happy Customers 40 years later .

These are fine rigs, very nice to drive and very work capable too .

Looks like Whataburger is your sponsor -- the paint scheme matches.

Miss me some Whataburger. Took a road trip to el Paso a month ago and finally had one after two years. It was a let down. Not impressed. Gonna have to find another one. Awesome truck. I'm a sucker for orange

Love them Orange trucks too.
At least in SoCal you've got Tommy Burgers. I went to LACC, and lived 5 blocks from Tommys #1 at Beverly and Ramparts. I jones for Tommys all the time.
Coupla years ago, I was visiting a college buddy in Camarillo [the Valley beyond the Valley] and we stopped at the local Tommys for a chiliburger. The girl behind the drive-up window, said "We're out of chili..." We drove away. I mean what's a Tommyburger w/o chili? [An In'N'Out]. We have both In'N'Out and Whataburger here in Tucson, but I'm never satisfied.
