What would be the best transmission?

Im looking to put a more fuel efficient manual transmission for my 1971 chevy k20, what would be the best one and how difficult, if i do it I'll probably end up putting in a hydraulic clutch in.

Re: What would be the best transmission?

The NV4500 is very desirable since it has overdrive

Re: What would be the best transmission?

Also I should mention the nv4500 is a 5 speed

There is a 6 speed...the nv5600 but I dont believe its swappable at the moment. Bellhousing adapters arnt available unless custom made.

I think I read somewhere dynatrac made some adapters but wont make any anymore. Shame.. a 6 speed would be cool
