72 Longhorn Rebuild

Well i got this truck and it needed some work and i knew it. Plus the deal couldn't be beat.

Well we towed it to my buddies garage where we have already stripped the front end on it. We have the fender off and everything else. down to the frame and suspension. I have a buddy who is going to rebuild the engine and then my other buddy and I are going to clean and paint the frame and rebuild the front suspension. It should be a fun project. I will get the truck running first then drive it for a while until i can save up enough to do the body work and paint.

Well here are some pictures of the truck when i got it. I will get more tomorrow of the progress.

looks like its gonna be a blast to waste some money on her! What is your vision for the thing? Plan on keeping those trailer mirrors? They'd be one of the first things I junked..

Keep us updated!

Re: 72 Longhorn Rebuild

Well after 4 months of the truck sitting waiting we have the engine in and running.
We tore the front end apart awhile back and the ran out of money and let the truck sit for a little while.
Well i got an engine out of a 1978 c-10 so we put new gaskets in it and got it all cleaned up and put it in.
Now after getting everything installed we went to start it and realized some of the wires were fried so we bought the E-Z wiring harness and are in the process of rewiring it. That is a pain there but not the hardest but we are getting it done.
But come tonight we started it up and got it to run fairly smooth which was nice. Right now we only have straight headers (long) and that beast is loud.
I have pictures that I will post up soon.
