'89 Silverado 1500

So I'm new to the forum and I figured my first thread would show everyone my truck!

It's a 1989 Silverado 1500 SWB with the 5.7L and auto trans. It's my DD and I've had the truck since I was 15. It has a ton of miles on it (275k+) but that's not stopping me from turning it into the truck it was always meant to be.

It was originally black/gold (tan) when I got it, but it has since been resprayed the original metallic black.

Some exterior mods are:
Cowl Hood
New grille w/ headlights and parking lights
18" wheels (looking into buying different ones)
tined tail lights (not the ones in the pictures)
new rear view mirrors
misc. painted parts

The interior was about 90% redone. Some of the things we did were:
new headliner
new carpet w/ cheapo floor mats
Custom bucket seats out of a newer model Silverado
custom made console/speaker box
new head unit and speakers

As for the engine and suspension, it is lowered (2/4) and the engine just got a tune up and cleaned up a bit. Here are some pics!

Re: '89 Silverado 1500

So here are a few pictures I forgot about. It's a more recent picture and a couple pictures of the tinted tails and what I have done to the engine bay so far. I'm hoping to score an LS engine and harness soon. Then the real fun begins

Thanks for looking!

Did you use nightshaed's to tint the lights, or was it professionally done?

I did use nightshade. I did about 3-4 coats of nightshade and about 4 coats of clear over that. Then I used rubbing and polishing compound to give them more of a glossy finish.

Re: '89 Silverado 1500

More things I forgot. Excuse the dirty truck lol. The weather has been crappy.

Tinted cab emblems... Idk if you can really tell from the picture but it's a lot darker than stock. I used 2 coats of nightshade, 3 coats of clear, and buffed it to a shine.

Refinished "1500" emblems

Thanks! Yeah I painted those silver and the bracket/strap that goes around the air intake. I plan on cleaning up other parts and keep with the red/black/silver theme.

Thanks! I just used high temp paint. I prepped them well (my philosophy is that prep is the key to a good product).

And the red was painted on using some extra base coat paint I had laying around. I applied the paint with a sponge, which turned out to be a bad idea because the sponge kept soaking up the paint and coming unattached from the handle... But I just didn't feel that was enough to use a spray gun on.

Haha have at it! Won't bother me a bit... That was actually just a random thing where I was just using up some leftover paint. I do like the way it turned out, and I guess others do too!

Nice truck. It's amazing what just a few exterior changes does for these trucks.
