55 Aftermaket A/C

Did a few searches looking for a A/C for my truck. I have a 55 2nd series with a crate 350 that already has the A/C compressor with bracket. I've been looking at Vintage Air and in my searches came across Nostalgic AC Parts. Just looking for some options thanks!

I went with the Bantam unit from RestoMod Air.

Re: 55 Aftermaket A/C

I went Vintage, but I did not do the SureFit. I picked the Gen II Compact.
I think the Sure fit is pretty common, but I had to try something different. Cause I'm different.
I'll have to get an updated photo without all the wiring and secured in place.

I have an under dash Nostalgic AC parts AC/Heat unit I've never mounted. The company told me they are very strong and will cool the cab of yours/mine quite well.

Re: 55 Aftermaket A/C

Back in the 70's I had a couple of those hang under the middle of the dash AC units in in different rigs including a 59 ElCamino that you could chill beer in front of the AC unit. they do take up a lot of room right in the middle though.

I Used Vintage Air direct fit 3 years ago works excellent. A bit tough to install on a finished truck but do able and works real good on heat and air.

ogre used vintage air gen II compac system too

aftermarket ac companies come and go, va has been around for a while
rob at va is tech support and very knowledgeable on his product and very generous on warranty support

most aftermarket compressors are sanden, no one supports oem style compressors
your crate motor compressor needs to be of the sanden style

Re: 55 Aftermaket A/C

Thanks for comments guys. My 1st thought was Vintage Air so I think I'm sticking with them. I've called and they have exactly what I need and I've only heard good things about their products and their service.

Re: 55 Aftermaket A/C

talmadgemoss if you haven't dropped the money down on your Vintage air unit, consider this.
Here's the unit I've mounted but never have used, it's brand new and now back in the box. I like this over Vintage Air only because of it's compact size, power and the room it allows. If you're interested in it, PM me.
