this is the Trans Canada Highway, pretty much Canada's only national highway coast to coast. hundreds of thousands of vehicles travel it every day, always busy....and look at this, not one single vehicle...it was weird, like we were the last truck on the road...turns out the highway had been shut down and we came on it right in the middle of the shutdown. sadly, about a mile behind us, a pickup crossed the highway into opposing traffic slamming into a toyota head on killing a pregnant mom in the pass. seat...
cant get up the canyon now, so we went down to the Fraser river, it's running too high right now to let dawg out...not to the road yet. quite often this road ends up under 5-8 feet of water almost the same spot from the river bed last feb. prob about 25-30 feet deep, and real fast....too fast for dawg so down to the Chilliwack river |

hiked down to where Tamihi creek hits the main river
there goes some rafters. guy in the safety boat looks like he was having fun, he kept rolling his kayak one last blast for dawg |

some bummer news lately.
the Ladner creek train bridge me and son hiked up to last summer was just recently set on fire....  a beautiful old train bridge built in 1916, stood for over a hundred yrs against some of the worst snows and weather possible...all it took was one dumb-arse idiot a couple hrs' apparently some people crossed the bridge and threw a cigarette on to the cross ties. when they got to the other side and seen what they did they tried to put it out with a water bottle. when some witness'es called forest service, they took off. what it looked like last summer morons..... |

as the cross-ties burned up and fell, they set the forest down below on fire....took forest service 2 days to mop it up, very steep terrain around there.
haft to go up there and see what kind of shape the bridge is in...  |

pretty cool shack out in the middle of nowhere, even has a "shutter" for the front winda nope, nobody home... |

tried to ride the Mt Thurston loop today...was only halfway successful.
don't know why it's called mt thurston, cause the road actually winds it's way around mt Mercer. have'nt done it since the early '90's with my K5, don't think you would get any truck over it know...after our ride we ran into some people who tried from the south side and said avalanches and run-off have taken the road out only a mile or so in. glad we came at it from the north. nice little spot up this hill to park |

handed the cam to my son. told him to try angles, get low, make it look like we're really 4bying, smashin' threw the bush, machine against nature......
