67 C20 8 lug to C10 5 lug

Can anyone help me out. I have a 67 C20 with the 8 lug coil spring rear end. I want to convert it to 5 lug & keep the coil springs. I also plan to lower the truck 2.5" in front & 4" in the rear. I was hoping to use a rear end that can bolt directly into the truck. I also want to avoid having to relocate the shock mounts & spring mounts. Is this something that can be done, or is it a pipe dream?

I had the same scenario with our 68 and went with a early 12 bolt truck rear end, Yukon 5 lug axles, Eaton posi w/ 3.42 gears and new ring & pinion.
I wanted a lower highway rpm and a low 1st gear so went w/the 700r4 transmission to achieve both. At the end of the day it really depends on what your goals are and that'll decide how you get there.

Sounds good. Thank you for the info. Now I just need to find the rear end that will bolt up to the truck.

71&72 half ton truck rear ends have 5 lug axles and should be a bolt in on the coil spring rear.
