R134a freon can with a valve in the top?

I picked up a couple of cans of this and it has a self-sealing valve in the top. I tried to use one with my old school can piecer and you can hear it open the valve, but no freon comes out.

Is there a different tool for this?

I need to get a side can tap next.. It does not discriminate. It will poke a hole in anything

Thanks for the help!

Re: R134a freon can with a valve in the top?

I have been told by a guy at Advance Auto there is an adapter for this need. He was out of them so I still dont know what they look like.

The original can tap will still get freon out of the can with the valve, but at a slower rate. You have to screw the needle all the way in and back it off a little then the freon will flow. So that worked for now.

Re: R134a freon can with a valve in the top?

The valve makes sense. I only use freon here and there for personal use so having a way to not vent it is a good idea.
